Bajaj Finance Announces Stock Split and Bonus Issue, Driving Share Surge
2025-06-09

In a significant development for investors, Bajaj Finance's share price witnessed a notable increase of up to 3.68% during Monday's trading session. This surge followed the company’s announcement regarding the record date for both its 1:2 stock split and a generous 4:1 bonus issue. The shares closed higher on Friday, reflecting positive investor sentiment. By mid-morning, they were trading at ₹9,739 per share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), marking an upward trend from their previous close.

On June 6, Bajaj Finance disclosed plans to proceed with a major corporate action involving both a stock split and bonus issuance. According to official filings, the record date for identifying eligible shareholders has been set for June 16. This strategic move aims to enhance liquidity and make shares more accessible to retail investors. Additionally, earlier in April, the company announced approval for a 2:1 stock split, effectively reducing the face value of each share while increasing their quantity.

The decision also includes issuing bonus shares in a 4:1 ratio. Eligible shareholders will receive four additional shares for every single fully paid-up equity share they currently hold. These changes are expected to significantly impact shareholder composition and trading dynamics. Furthermore, Bajaj Finance declared a final dividend of ₹44 per share for the fiscal year 2024-25, underscoring strong financial performance.

Despite slight misses in net interest income estimates during the March quarter, consolidated net profit surged by 19% year-over-year to ₹4,545.6 crore. The company’s assets under management grew impressively by 26%, reaching ₹4.17 lakh crore as of March 31, 2025. This growth indicates robust credit demand and underscores Bajaj Finance’s continued expansion in the financial services sector.

Investor confidence appears buoyed by these announcements, driving a substantial rise in share prices. With enhanced accessibility through the stock split and added value via the bonus issue, Bajaj Finance positions itself favorably in the market. Analysts suggest that such moves could attract broader participation from retail investors, further boosting liquidity and overall trading activity in the coming weeks.
