The story begins with Ann Leonard, an educator whose life took a meaningful turn after volunteering at Rapahope, a summer camp in Mobile, Alabama, dedicated to supporting young cancer patients. Leonard was deeply moved by the resilience and courage of both the children and their families. Her desire to contribute further led her to connect with local quilters who shared her vision of providing personalized gifts to uplift the spirits of these brave youngsters.

Inspired by Leonard’s enthusiasm, Karen McQueen, a retired teacher and skilled quilter, eagerly joined forces with others to create vibrant, handcrafted quilts. Over a span of three months, this dedicated group worked tirelessly to produce 53 twin-sized quilts, each one unique and filled with love. Their efforts culminated in a breathtaking display at the First Baptist Church in Panama City, where the quilts adorned stairwells, symbolizing not only artistic achievement but also a profound commitment to compassion. With plans already underway for next year's project, the team aims to expand their output to around 75-80 quilts, ensuring every camper receives a token of care and encouragement.
