The Manna Food Project, an organization dedicated to serving communities across Emmet, Charlevoix, and Antrim counties, announced that it has provided 24% more food aid compared to the previous year. According to recent estimates, about 14.5% of the total population in these counties face difficulties accessing sufficient food. Carrie Klingelsmith, the Executive Director of the Manna Food Project, explained how rising living costs are stretching families thin. Housing, childcare, and other essential expenses are making it increasingly challenging for individuals to cover their basic needs.
