Kroger Issues Multiple Product Recalls Amid Safety Concerns
2025-06-06

In May, Kroger has initiated several product recalls spanning across food items, kitchenware, and children's jewelry due to various safety concerns. These issues range from potential salmonella contamination in cucumbers to manufacturing defects in cookers and irritation risks from uncured resin in jewelry kits. The recall affects numerous Kroger locations and its subsidiary stores nationwide.

The recalled products include Dinty Moore Beef Stew cans suspected of foreign matter contamination, cucumber-based salad trays linked to a salmonella outbreak, the Ninja Foodi cooker with a defective lid, and Disney Little Mermaid Gel2Gem Sparkling Crystal Jewelry kits posing skin, eye, and respiratory irritation hazards. Customers are advised not to consume or use these products and can return them for a full refund.

Food and Kitchen Items Under Recall

Among the affected products are canned goods and vegetable platters. Hormel Foods Corporation’s Dinty Moore Beef Stew is under scrutiny for possible contamination with foreign substances, impacting several states and Kroger subsidiaries. Similarly, salad items containing cucumbers from Bedner Growers have been flagged for potential salmonella exposure, affecting specific regions.

Hormel Foods Corporation identified that Dinty Moore Beef Stew cans might contain foreign materials, prompting a recall in Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Kentucky, as well as in Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Food4Less, FoodsCo, and Smith’s stores. Meanwhile, cucumber-based salads like Deli Fresh Veg Tray Medium and BRHD Hummus Veg Platter were recalled in Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Western Kentucky after being linked to a national salmonella outbreak. Any of these items purchased within specified dates should be returned for a refund to avoid health risks.

Household and Children's Products Affected

Beyond food, certain household and children's products have also been subject to recalls. The Ninja Foodi 6.5 Quart Cooker was pulled from shelves due to a lid defect, while Disney Little Mermaid Gel2Gem Sparkling Crystal Jewelry kits were withdrawn because of potential irritation risks from uncured resin.

The Ninja Foodi Cooker, available in multiple states including Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, the Carolinas, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama, was found to have a lid defect leading to its recall on May 6. Additionally, Disney jewelry-making kits stocked in Fred Meyer and Smith’s stores pose a risk of skin, eye, and respiratory irritation due to uncured resin, necessitating their recall on May 5. Consumers are urged to return these products for a full refund to ensure safety and prevent adverse reactions.
