Athletes from United South Central/Alden-Conger and Blue Earth Area showcased their talents at the Section 2A Track Meet in Mankato on May 31, securing spots for the Class A State Track Meet. Among the standout performers was Brant Blosser, who not only qualified for the state competition but also set a new record in the 110-meter hurdles with an impressive time of 14.62 seconds. His teammate Jayden Barnick joined him by achieving a personal best in the high jump. Other competitors from both schools earned All-Section honors through their commendable performances across various events.
The spotlight shone brightly on Brant Blosser, whose historic performance in the 110-meter hurdles marked a significant milestone. By clocking in at 14.62 seconds, he shattered the previous Section 2A record while simultaneously setting a personal record. This achievement underscored his dominance in the event and secured his place in the upcoming State Track Meet. In addition to his individual success, Blosser's victory contributed to his recognition as part of the All-Section team. Furthermore, Isaac Hartman and Jace Ignaszewski added to the school’s accolades by placing third and fourth, respectively, in the 300-meter hurdles, earning them All-Section distinctions.
Jayden Barnick's contribution to the team's achievements cannot be overlooked. With a leap of 6 feet 2 inches in the high jump, he secured second place, ensuring his participation in the state-level competition. Meanwhile, other athletes such as Maxwell Schull in the 400-meter run and Henry Beaver in the shot put also demonstrated their prowess, contributing to the overall excellence displayed by the USC/A-C contingent.
On the girls' side, Chloe Bullerman excelled in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing eighth and earning All-Section honors. Madison Passer and Sydney Sauke also represented their team admirably in the 100-meter hurdles. For Blue Earth Area, Tailor Douglas and Taylor Ripley stood out with their accomplishments in the pole vault and shot put, respectively, further enriching the roster of All-Section honorees.
The efforts of these young athletes were met with pride and admiration from their coaches. Donna Nawrocki, head coach of the Blue Earth Area track team, expressed her appreciation for the dedication shown by both male and female participants throughout the season. Achieving qualification for the Section Meet itself is regarded as a notable accomplishment, reflecting the hard work and perseverance of each competitor.
